About Our Club |
The Cranston Communicators Toastmasters (CCTM) club is a newly formed club with a growing membership. I''ll be honest, prior to COVID-19 we were at 30 members with an average attendance of 15. During the lockdown, we have not been able to meet in person yet, but have continued meetings online via Zoom. On Zoom, we are currently 16 members strong with an average weekly attendance of 9-12 members with at least a visitor/guest in each of our meetings. We are planning to continue with in person meetings again starting Thursday September 3, 2020, while being sensitive to COVID-19 precautions. Bring a mask, as it is an indoor public space.
Regardless of the platform, our goal is to provide a safe and friendly environment where members can grow in their speaking and leadership skills.
We learn communication, listening, and leadership skills by practice in every one of our meetings. A typical meeting involves members giving prepared speeches and receiving constructive feedback as well we practice thinking on our feet through impromptu 2 minutes speeches called table topics. Members participate in our table topic sessions and guests are also welcome to participate.
You can visit the club for as many times as you like before deciding to become a member. We meet on Thursdays between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm at the Cranston Resident's Association. Our members will be on hand to welcome you.

The Toastmasters Mission A statement of shared values
Every Toastmasters club shares the same mission, clearly defined in the following mission statement:
We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
Through this mission, each Toastmaster gains a clear understanding of the club's purpose, and the organization as a whole benefits from a shared set of values and goals.
